The Emotional Competence Inventory is a multirater feedback instrument designed by Drs. Richard Boyatzis and Daniel Goleman to assess emotional intelligence competencies. The ECI builds on Hay/McBer¹s 35 years of competency research and methodology development.
The Emotional Intelligence Competency Model comprises 20 competencies organized into four clusters. The competencies in the first three clusters must be in place in order for an individual to be effective in the last cluster. And it is the competencies in the last cluster that drive organization performance.
The ECI Feedback Report indicates the specific emotional competencies where development is needed for an individual based on feedback of their raters. The ECI Feedback Report includes a Personal Summary, a Competency Summary and a Frequency Distribution Report which provide information on workforce performance for each competency, the target level needed to demonstrate mastery in each cluster and the minimum number of competencies required for proficiency in each cluster.
